Whole Blood
We collect and provide whole blood, a vital resource used in various medical treatments and emergencies. Whole blood includes red cells, white cells, platelets, and plasma, all of which can be utilized to address different patient needs.
Packed Red Blood Cells (PRBC):
PRBCs are prepared by removing most of the plasma from whole blood. This concentrate is essential for patients with anaemia or significant blood loss, providing a high concentration of red blood cells to enhance oxygen delivery.
Fresh Frozen Plasma (FFP):
FFP is derived from whole blood and contains essential clotting factors and proteins. It is crucial for treating patients with clotting disorders, liver disease, or those undergoing major surgeries.
Therapeutic Phlebotomy
This procedure involves the removal of blood from a patient for medical treatment purposes, such as managing conditions like hemochromatosis or polycythaemia. Therapeutic phlebotomy helps reduce excess iron or red blood cells in the body.
Single Donor Platelets (SDP)
SDP is collected from a single donor through a process called apheresis. This concentrated platelet product is often used for patients in need of high-dose platelet transfusions, such as those undergoing cancer treatments.
